What temp to start covering....

So does anyone know if mine will gain some sense to get in out of the weather or will I have to rethink my housing and close them up by force?

Thanks,
David

I DUNNO DAVID, STOP AND THINK ABOUT IT.... DID YA EVER SEE A BOB WHITE OR A COTURNIX QUAIL IN THE WILD RUNNING AND SQUEALING THRU THE RAIN? I MEAN THEY ARE GAMEBIRDS THAT NATURE DESIGNED TO LIVE OUTDOORS IN THE ELEMENTS.... GRANTED THEY ARE YOUR GAMEBIRDS, AND LIKE ANY RESPONSIBLE OWNER YOU WANT TO PROTECT/ CARE FOR/ AND EVEN PAMPER THEM..... BUT THEY HAVE EXISTED AS LONG OR LONGER THAN HUMANS WITHOUT PLASTIC OVER THE WINDOWS OF THE COOP, OR EVEN A COOP FOR THAT MATTER----

BASICALLY I CANT HELP WITH THIS WHOLE ?HOW COLD? THING--- MINE POUT AND WHINE DURING THE WINTER'S HERE BECAUSE I WONT LET THEM WEAR THEIR BATHING SUITS--- I MAKE 'EM AT LEAST PUT ON SHORTS AND T SHIRTS + FLIP FLOPS....

Probably not, I had some of mine in an unused chicken coop a month or so ago. The chicks and guinea keets that were with them had sense enough to go inside at dark or when it was raining, but I was out there tossing quail through the pop door. Eventually I gave up, they never went in on their own. I even tried keeping their feed inside, stupid birds practically starved themselves to death!

I keep telling my wife, in the wild their mommas aren't around to make sure they stay warm and dry. She doesn't buy it.....
She likes to spoil her critters...
