I want to hatch some eggs this winter so they are ready to go out in the coop in the summer. I want to do some red sex links, I have RIR rooster and some Silverlaced girls. One of them has a perfect comb and I want her eggs only, well maybe a couple from one of her sisters. So I need to store them until we incubate. What temperature do I store them at until that point?

At this time of year I'd just store them on the ubiquitous cool, dark shelf unless you're given to keeping your house quite warm. Set within a week for best viability.

In the hot time of year I keep mine in the refrigerator which typically stays between 35-40 degrees and I get good hatches. The ideal range is in the 50-60 spectrum if you have any place in your house that stays that cool.

Here's my issue. I only have wood heat right now with some electric so it can get decently chilly in here. How cold is too cold?
