What the flock? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Forgive the pun, but I'm reading where people are saying they only have a small flock, or some have a fairly good size flock. I'm curious as to what the actual numbers are though that you all use to determine your flock size. I can't even IMAGINE how big a flock some must have if they are hatching hundreds in the incubator! I currently have 6 pullets, 2 cockerels, 13 in the brooder and 5 eggs going strong in the incubator. Would y'all consider that a small but growing flock? I'm embarrassed to admit how easily confused I am

I count flock by the number of pullets and hens, because baby chicks and hatching eggs have greater chances of not surviving.

To me, a "small flock" would be less than ten. A medium size would be under 20, and any over that a large. But that's just me. Other people may have different numbers in their heads. I have 17 chickens and 8 guineas in a coop, and it seems like a lot of birds!

I guess it depends on the individual chicken keeper's situation. People who live in chicken friendly suburbs may only have 3 chickens and still call them a flock.
I have 16 and though my family thinks that is more than enough, I do not consider this a large flock.

I have a total of 7 birds. I think of it as a small flock. I might add up to 3 more, and then I'd think of it as small-ish medium sized.

My neighbor has 35; 14 are chicks she just got over the weekend. To me, that's a large flock.

I consider 20 or more large flock, 10-19 medium and 5-10 small. I’d have a large flock of 59+. Yours I’d say is a medium flock and growing.

I have 15 and live in town. I think I have small flock(would have a lot more in country). My one neighbor thought 15 was a large amount to have (until he got free eggs).
