Ok I woke up again this morning and there was a frantic noise in the cortunix cage. I looked in there and the other male had a bloody head , his isnt as bad as the first male who was completly scalped and may only have one eye left. My question is is it the females doing this or is it the chicken chick in with them who is now about 4 times bigger then they are .
any ideas.

Well I woke up this morning to the same things on one of my females. All of her feathers are gone and a bloody head, it's raw!!

I have one very aggressive female who only gets along with one other female the rest she chases around and pecks at. So it may be a dominant female try watching their behavior for a while and see if you can find the one causing all the trouble.

We were thinking of seperating the aggresive female with the other female she gets along with...

How are you treating the wound on the hurt birds?

I don't know anything about quail, but with chickens if a hen has chicks she is raising they will become more aggressive and protective. My flock of cochin bantams is as peaceful as can be until a hen has chicks and then the hens start bickering with one another.

yep hen quails can be just as nasty as roos sometimes believe me! What I would sit and oberve for is one of the hens to bow down with a frantic angry look on her face while doing a vicious chattering, this is an aggressive stance and a threat to anyone who comes near her she will go after (roos do this too at times) and sometimes the birds dont even need to go near them and theyw ill still attack them. NOrmally it's roos that are aggressive but yes it could very well be a coturnix hen being nasty

I dunno how old your chicken chick is but if it's just a puff ball baby or a just feathering on teh wings chick I highly doubt its being that vicious but I guess you never know!

I have a pen that had a golden hen, rosetta hen, tuxedo rosetta hen, pharaoh hen, and a golden roo. I say 'had' because the rosetta hen and the golden hen are so aggressive that I have had to remove the tuxedo hen from the pen. The pharoah is doing okay so far, but if they start picking on her too, I might just have to cull the two agressive ones.

ETA: They are so aggressive that they will attack me when I go in the cage, and not just peck a little, they will jump at my fingers when I am opening it, and peck my hand hard while I'm stealing eggs!!
