What thermometer do I believe?

On my Little Giant /fan testing without eggs, I could get 99.5 degrees on 2 different thermometers. One laying on the wire screen, one reading on the therm. on its stand that came with the bator. Finally found a digital therm. and humidity thingie at Walmart. It's reading 95 and the original is at 99.5. They are both at the same level, either side of the bator.
I put my guinea eggs in this morning at 5am. Which thermometer should I go with? Should I split the difference?

I would go return that digital thing from wallmart. Cheap digital things can have huge errors when not calibrated right.

I would go with the Walmart one too. I have had much better luck with those than the original therm that came with the bator. The ones that come with the bators are typically off by 5-6 degrees and will cost you a hatch (as many of us learned the hard way).

Ugh....I feel your pain!!!

Put in a 3rd one...see what that says! But beware, you may get more confused. I would do the water wesel thing if you can, I have found that to be most accurate.

Ah, I get it, you have one with the bator and one from walmart. I would get a third good quality one and use that. Or as a quick check if you have a air hole you can borrow, stick a child "I have a fever" thermometer in there. Those will be more accurate since it needs to be passed by standards for healthcare.

I use a digital thermometer... but... it's an attachment to a multimeter that is used for industrial equipment testing.

How'z about I get every thermometer I can find around here? I put them all in the bator, get an average temp and go with that?

I've probably already killed my guinea children and they've only been in the bator 8 hours!

It's a learning experience. Right?

Oh wait! I forgot, it's time to go juggle them right now! Or something.

You don't need ALL of them just most J/k. Just get one medical grade thermometer and you will be good to go. Too hot will kill the birds... too cool will just slow them down. Hope isn't lost yet cuz it's still early in the incubation.

Ok, I've got a 99.9 with an oral therm. stuck down the "air" hole with the plug taken out. My original still is reading 99.5 and the Wallyworld digital is at 95. I bet I can't believe the humidity reading on that one either.
Pray for my unhatched guinea children. :|

Go with the original one, return that digital thing. Humidity is probably way off too. Just watch the change in air cell size or do wetbulb humidity measurements.
