I'm thinking of ordering several chicks to raise just for the meat. It doesn't matter what they look like or how fast they develop. What would be a good breed to buy for "dinner chickens"?

The cornish x or the freedom rangers would both make great dinner chickens.

The cornish are ready in 6-8 weeks and the freedom rangers are ready in 10-12 weeks.

The cornish are known for their fast growth rate and tenderness. The Freedom Rangers are known for their ability to forage better with a little bit of a "stronger" chicken flavor.

Both taste fantastic in my opinion. It really depends on how you cook them.
