what to do about protruding healthy tissue on wound

This pullet was attacked and partially scalped one week ago by one of our layers. The wound is healing quite nicely but there is a protruding piece of healthy tissue (bulbous shape on right side). I'm concerned this will be a tempting area for further pecking by the others when she is finally incorporated back. Should I take care of this now somehow? I anticipate any removal would require a vet? I expect another 3-4 weeks of healing. Maybe her feathers will grow over it?
