There is a very big storm right now. My power is flickering off and on and I am almost positive it will go out at some point tonight. I have 4 chicks 1 day to 6 days old and 3 4 week old chicks.

My question is what effect would this have on the birds. I figured they would get cold but would it be life threatening? Will the darkness make them go crazy? Or will they do just fine? Excuse me if this is stupid, just a worried momma :D

How cold is it expected to get? You might want to buff up your wood chips or whatever you use in the bottom of their home. Are they in a brooder? If so you might want to wrap it in a blanket on the solid sides. Not the top or where ever the ventilation is. They have to have air and circulation. I dont have any more suggestions. Good luck!

It is around 70 degrees outside and in my house. Thank you so much I will do all of this. I also have a stuffed animal in there hoping that will help them stay warm too. Thanks so much for your help! Hoping it will stay on all night.

I have wondered what a person would do in the winter if the power goes out with little chicks. It would be a hard thing. Just glad its warm now!
