Today is day 15! I need to start thinking about exactly what to do on hatch day. 16/24 eggs have chicks inside :)

How long is it safe to leave the chicks in the incubator while waiting for their siblings to hatch.

What if an egg has pipped but not hatched, can i remove any chicks that have hatched?

Im like a nervous first time mom here

What I would be worried about is the older hatched chicks becoming active and pecking at the other eggs. They can get curious and begin eating at the half-hatched peeps. That in mind, I would remove within six hours or just ASAP if they hatch overnight.

The second question depends somewhat on how well your incubator holds humidity. You don't want the humidity to go below about sixty. Still, a reach-in-and-grab shouldn't hurt anything so long as you don't stand there with the lid open.

Good luck with your hatch!

(And with your hatch too, Birdgirl.)

You can take the chicks out as soon as they're dry, as long as you are extremely careful. I've never had problems with chicks pecking the half hatched chicks, but it is still a good idea to remove the chicks as soon as possible.

For hatch day, you should start heating up your brooder a day in advance so you can get the temperature perfect by the time the chicks are ready to go in. Also, make sure whenever you replace the water it's warm when it goes in.

I have actually had some game bantam chicks kill their partially-hatched sibling, so caution is good. It only happened once, mind you.

2 of my eggs are hatching technically today is day 22... i had a lot of trouble with temps. I can hear a baby peeping already but its not close to being out of the shell is this normal?
