One of my hens, the queen bee is constantly chasing and bullying one of my girls. Not to the point of any feather loss, just chases and pecks once. It was suggested to put queen bee in a dog kennel to knock her down on the pecking order a couple notches...how long do I keep her separate? When I put her back won't she just climb back up the pecking order to the top and resume the bullying? When I separate her, do I put her inside the house or just separate in the run/coop?

It would be best to seperate her away from the others where they do not see her. Then when you put her back it will be like reintroducing a new hen.

ok, so I separated her from the rest of them today after I found her standing on top poor Rose biting at the back of her neck. I have her inside in a dog crate with shavings, food/water. How long do I keep her in? Also, I usually let them out of the run to forage around the yard for about an hour every day. Do I just keep her in the crate or let her out by herself? If I let her out the others would see her...

Oh yeah, great news for me, after I took her out and put her inside I went back outside and the 2nd in command hen was picking on the same poor girl! I'm stumped.

I have used a spray bottle of water to squirt the evil hen in the act...helps a bit. Worth a try, sit in the run and squirt whenever she is picking on the other hens. Works for when you add new chicks to the flock.

thats why i have a rooster and one bigger than the rest of the flock he puts them bully hens in their place fast... Try getting some no pick paste and put it on a few spots o nthe hen bbeing bugged neck comp etc that will fixz the other smart butts
