So my female button quail has been laying an egg a day but doesn’t sit on them and I can’t really handle any babies at the moment. I was wondering if it’s fine to just give the raw eggs to my rats? I can’t bring myself to eat them cause I see them as babies not food (Maybe because I hatched the mom?). Silly bird even laid and egg on me lol

It’s fine to feed them to your rat if your not going to eat them (I have no idea if rats can eat eggs or not). The eggs are not what you referred to as “babies” as they cannot become chicks unless they are incubated for a time, and it isn’t even possible to unless you have a male. They are completely safe to eat, and are the same as any egg you get from the store.

They are definitely fertile thanks to my male so I’m not giving them a chance to start incubating. I’ll have to get over the thought of the eggs as babies so I can try a few sometime.
