So, as various people here predicted after I posted some pics a while back, one of our chicks came out of the closet as a very cool and handsome 'dude'. Back when we where still doubting his manliness, we thought that, well, if it turned out to be a rooster (we live in the city), we would have to eat the young fellow; but now that he is starting to crow, and growing a bright red waddle and a lovely rose comb, we have just fallen in Love with him. Mr. Dominique is better looking than Johnny depp or Brad Pitt by far.
When he started crowing he was doing it at around 6 am, but in the past week, i've been locking the coop until 8, and then, when we let them out, he crows for a short while, and that's it. A part of me wishes we could pull off this trick forever, and then maybe the neighboors won't mind too much. I'll even bring them some fresh eggs every week to help them accept the lovely rural sounds coming from our backyard.
Well, we're really not sure what to do with this guy. He sure ain't bothering us, and as we see his lovely feathered tail develope, we wish we could see him grow old and beautiful...
I'm posting some pics of our rooster and our freshly painted 'all recycled material' coop.
