What to paint or stain on the inside of coop...

Building our coop and just bought the 1/4in hardwood plywood for the inside. I'd like some input as to what to use for the inside...paint or stain to protect the plywood and be healthy for the chickens. Thanks. Oh, and we live in NH so we have ALL kinds of weather...meaning: cold, heat, humidity.

I was just wondering the same thing. I was about to put our 6 week old chicks out to the coop but had a last min thought to stain the inside of the coop. I was gonna go with an exterior stain that is a solid color not the translusent wood color. Do you think that would do the trick? Im also in NH.

Exterior stain or paint will protect the wood. Which and what color is personal preference. Chickens don't seem to care.
