what kind of animal would go into a coop and take one chicken and leave? found feathers and blood in the coop but no bird.and more feathers in the neighbors yard. thanks

Not an expert but I know folks are going to want more information....
1. Where are you located and are you rural or urban?
2. Was your coop locked and/or secure?
3. What kind of chicken (bantum, LF, juvenille, adult, etc)
4. How long have you been using this coop?
5. Was is done during the day or overnight?

Without anymore info - my only guess at this point would be fox, coyote or bobcat.

Probably a coon. They can only carry off one bird at a time.

A fox will do this sometimes too. Take one back to the den to feed pups. This time of year that would depend on where you are/how warm it is.

AT any rate, the important thing is that whatever it was will come back for more until you can secure the coop so it can't get in again.

it was day time i live in the country.. and yes it was open the other girls were out running around... i live in illinois... so maybe a fox.. thanks
