Fred Meyer had their pineapples on sale last week 10 for $10 so we bought a few. I thought my girls might like some. So I took them out a few little pieces and the hated it. They didn't like strawberries or pears either. What treats do your chickens not like?

It seems like they all have very individual preferences. Mine don't seem to like cabbage, yogurt or cheese (which seem to be favorites around here). But, they adore all of the things that you said yours don't like. They also like spinach (or any dark green greens), watermelon, peaches and raisins. Raisins are their special treat when it's time to go back into the run. All I have to do is step outside with that red box in my hand and they come running.

When I gave my chicks treats in the brooder, they would all stare at the new thing until the bravest one went up and pecked it. The treat would keep their interest for a few days, until they got bored of it and wanted something else. So, I would throw in a new food. I got the chicks eating everything: slugs, worms, chickweed, yogurt, strawberries, kale, watermelon. Even as they grew up and left the brooder, they still liked all the things I had given them as babies, but each individual chicken seemed to develop preferences for food that they LOVED.

So not sure how much you can teach them to like as chicks and how much it's about individual tastes. It's definitely fun to try

I'm discovering with my adopted hens that they like certain foods in different seasons. They hated leafy greens all summer, when forage alternatives were available, but now that it's winter, they devour them.

My hens also seem to get tired of any food I try to give them multiple days in a row
