what type of feed

i have 6 buff op and 5 bared rock hens that are 5 weeks old they are for egg production i have feed them purina medicated start and grow i am ready to buy another 50 lb bag should i buy the same feed or are they ready for somrthing different they are fully feathered and in their coop already. i would like to feed them correctly to max my egg production and keep them healthy.

We feed the starter until about 16 weeks but as we close in on the end of the bag of starter we start mixing layer pellets in. I think it is better to make the change by mixing the foods .

I would go with the Purina Flock Raiser or some sort of grower feed. I start mine off with the medicated chick starter and then switch just because they really don't need the meds anymore. Once they are close to 16 weeks give or take a few depending on when the feed runs out, I will switch to the layer feed.

As said before start and grow its recommeded til they reach laying age which is 16 weeks. they might not lay then but they will be getting ready for it!
