:) I am a very new 'chicken farmer'.....I have read a little about fodder....was wanting to know what types of seeds I need to get to grow it.... soft wheat? Red wheat? I never knew there were so many types of seeds! :)

There are lots you have choose from. Just make sure they are whole. I do a mix red wheat berries, whole barely and BOSS.

wheat, barley, oats, millet, sunflower seeds, rye, just make sure that whatever you get is whole, and not pearled, peeled, crushed, halved or rolled...heck grab a bag of birdseed that appears to have whole seeds in it and use them...Most all that is in wild bird feed is simply seeds and they will usually all grow...

not stupid at all. BOSS is black oil sunflower seeds. They are the all black sunflower seeds that you see mixed in with bird seed usually. They are higher in protein than the standard striped seed. It is a fairly popular chicken snack.
