What type of grass?

What type of grass should I plant in the run? Would rye grass work or should I build up a thick lawn type grass?

How big is your run? if it is not that big, the chickens will turn it into dirt soon enough anyways. If it is big enough, then it really doesn't matter. They will be happy with whatever.
