What type of leg bands should I get?

Best place to buy is Cutlers Supply they have a web site link below. I just placed my order for their bandettes. These are plastic, colored, numbers spring type bands so they can be put on and taken off as needed. They come in packs of 25 or 100 and in 5 or 7 colors. You can only buy one color in a number squence. If you want more colors well you will have repeated numbers then which is fine for many who breed.

These are allowed in shows.

They are close to the leg when sized right on a adult bird. They open like a key ring that over laps. that is why they can be removed and reused. You can buy smaller sizes and the use them on chicks and size them up as they get older till they are 12 weeks old. Most find that they can be used at adult sizes at 8 weeks.

You might want to look into Kuhl brand leg bands. They are plastic spirals. They come in different colors and sizes. And they are easy to put on the chickens legs. Plus they are really affordable. They are what I use on my bantam cochins. You can get large quantities at Cutler's Supply. Or if you need to buy them individually in different colors you can buy them at an online store called Hoof and Horn Ranch, which is here. The woman that runs the store is a BYC member.
