What type of mites or lice would these be?

I had treated with permethrin powder, three times , a week apart, and I now can not physically see any on any of the chickens. However there are a few that have eggs on their feathers still. I am trying to figure out if I should be treating again, with something different, or if I don’t see any, they should be fine? I last treated about a month ago. I do have pour on ivomectin, however don’t want to go overboard etc! Any advice would be amazing! Thank you!

Did you dust or spray the chickens including their skin? Those appear to be lice. The eggs hatch every 10 days. Treating at 10 day intervals at least two to three times usually will take care of it on the chickens. But you also have to treat the coop, nests, and roosts with permethrin spray once you have removed all bedding and cleaned. Elector PSP is another more expensive treatment. This is a good article with pictures:

I dusted the chickens to their skin, three times 10 days apart. I did treat the entire coop as well, once the same day as the first treatment, and then the last treatment day. I used powder in the coop as well as Dokter Doom Poultry lice killer in the coop, on roosts , etc. I cleaned out the coop the first time, of all bedding etc. But I didn’t the second time. I just sprayed and cleaned out nesting boxes. Unfortunately with living in a cold winter climate, I didn’t use anything liquid on the chickens due to risk for humidity or frostbite. Elector PSP isn’t available in Canada. So I couldn’t go that route either. I guess I’m worried because I can still see the eggs on some feathers. Do they stay looking like their are eggs, after they have hatched and are dead? Do you know?

I don’t think that you can get permethrin powder or spray in Cananda. I did find Dokter Doom which one had pyrethrum and one had DE. Permethrin I think is a syntheitic of pyrethrums so they might be developing resistance. I cannot say if the white eggs are there after they hatch, but some people do try and get the eggs off with various methods. You might ask your vet for a recommendation.

the powder I used was Pyrethrin powder, I had to double check as I get them confused! The spray Dokter Doom , is also pyrethrins. Attached is a picture of the spray. I may give the provincial vet a call Monday and ask about the eggs. I don’t want to unnecessarily treat. Thank you for your comments :) The advice is appreciated!

I agree they look like lice.
I just wanted to say, that with lice eggs, even after they have all hatched (and hopefully been killed) the empty eggs will stay attached to the feathers for quite a while.
So just because you can see them, does not necessarily mean you need to worry.
Ditto Dat....just keep checking for live bugs and dust again if you find any.

Okay perfect. I have looked at everyone thoroughly and have not seen a single lice since the second treatment I did. Including on my rooster, who was by far the worst, he’s who the picture is of. Just the eggs were concerning me that maybe they were treated right.
