what types of quail need a license

thinking about getting quail, but have no idea which don't need a license in Davis C.A. I looked it up on the internet, but have gathered no helpful info

I want button quails because i know about how to care for them better than other breeds, but i still don't know if i need a license or not!

Coturnix and buttons quail require no license in California. Bobwhites, Chukar, pheasants, etc require a license if you plan to keep them more than 30 days.

Edit to add; When trying to find out what species you are allowed to raise calling Fish and Game in the state you are in is the best way.
