I think a lot of the people on this board live in the US. When it comes to vaccinations, it depends a lot on where you live and whether you do things like showing or breeding. I don't know much about poultry diseases in England. I've always gotten my chicks vaccinated for Marek's at the hatchery, but that is all.

For things like mites and ticks, you can provide a dust bath for them to use as a preventative and treat them if they ever do have a problem. I think most people worm their chickens a couple of times a year.

I don't vaccinate any of my birds and have no problems. As long as the ground where you are raising them hasn't had diseases prior, you wont need it. In addition, that is usually done as chicks and with good cleaning your birds will be fine.

I don't know about where you live...here in Ohio (US) I would highly recommend that you vaccinate against ILT ;mainly cause we had it and it's horrible; it is curable by vaccine usually though even after they have it, and in some areas chickens don't get it at all. Vaccine is pretty inexpensive and easy to use. Other than that, we don't vaccinate for anything, but we do deworm just twice ayear with a multi worm dewormer, and give them DE for lice, mites, and worms in the meantime. Vites and electrolytes if they show signs of getting sick or are stressed, but don't give these all the time.
