What wattage in the brooder

I'm getting 6 silkie bantam hens what wattage light bulb to use in the brooder. Also I know some people change them over time what do u use?

I think it's less about wattage than temp...so a lower wattage bulb would be placed lower in the brooder to provide the necessary heat, whereas a higher wattage bulb could be hung higher. Take a look at this link that talks about baby chicks. Good luck to you!

Considering you are in Texas I don't think you'll want a high watt bulb, I'd go with a normal one and just chance the height to keep them warm/cool enough Welcome to the site!
