Whoops, sorry, I missed your post about the badger. A BADGER! Wow! That's a new one.

Be very careful, remember rabies. Don't take any chances. Dispose of the critter promptly, and don't let the kids or your dogs near it. If you are using a live trap, have a 55 gallon drum filled with water ready to drown it. Lift the trap with a manure or pitch fork. Keep your hands well away from the critter.

I am so sorry to hear bout your girl.

If it IS a badger, they are a force to be reckoned with. They wont stop burrowing until they get somethin, even WITH buried wire. They are powerful animals, lots of strength.

We had a badger dig a hole under a headstone of my bro in law and its been one heck of a battle to get it to stop, etc. We dont live close to the cemetary, which makes it even more difficult, but I guess their burrowing can be tremendous.
