Look at the Hendersen Chart valentine mentions, I have found it a very useful summary. Just remember that all traits will vary somewhat by individual bird and it's individual nature and nuture.

My vote gets Black Australorps though they can go broody EE's are good as well and as far as I know they don't go broody. Leghorns are good layers and don't go broody. Norwegian Jaerhons are supposed to be great layers though they are hard to find ideal poultry sells them and their site is www.idealpoultry.com Welsummers are supposed to be good layers too. i have about 12 different breeds and the one breed that fits those descriptions iare Welsummers.
My leghorns lay about the same but aren't as friendly or pretty unless you like white.
