What's a 'Biddie" to you?

"Biddie"

The context I've read it in -- never heard the word used in speech -- has always been referring to a broody hen, most often a seasoned broody.
I'd forgotten about this definition.
My mom used to call a broody, biddie.
She would bring a broody bantam to our enclosed porch and put her into a cardboard box with eggs.
Thanks for jogging my memory.

I haven't used the word in years, but when I was a kid (in the sixties) we used the term (old biddie) for an old lady who wasn't friendly and frequently yelled at us kids if we were noisy or doing something she didn't like.
Just like a biddie on a nest. GC
