I am completely new to hatching chicks, and actually I am hoping to hatch some call ducklings from under a broody hen. I am not sure what a pip means and I was wondering if I should put them in a brooder afterward when(if) any hacth? Or will it be ok to keep them with the hen. Also the hen is still in the coop with the other hens should I move her. She seems happy enough but what do I do if the chicks hatch....Help.

a pip is when the chick starts to break through the shell it usually looks like a small hole in the shell

the mother should protect the chicks when they hatch
