Whats the best Broody Breeds...

Ditto: My best Momma hen is a Leghorn. We have 8 chicks under her wings now. The problem is chickens just can't read so she had no idea the "book" says they don't go broody.

Get the Chickens you like best and hopefully one will go along with it..if not an incubator works great

Standard Cornish--most broody hens...Ever! I am having trouble getting enough eggs from my exhibition hens, all they want to do is sit.

We just had a non-exhibition Cornish sneak off and hatch 20+ eggs! Too many chicks to all get under her at one time. All have survived, I don't know how she did it.

i have 4 4yr old lt brahma hens and only one has ever tried to sit and she started with 22 eggs and after 26 days no hatch not fertile i guess and only 6 not smashed ever time she got up she would end up smashing one and yes the box was the right size and all.

i have silkies not old enough to sit yet for broody and i have had several people say they are lazy broodies that they wont get of the nest to poo and the poo on the eggs. any one else say any thing?
