whats the best (most accurate) digatal thermometer? thinking about getting one for my GQF 1202... any suggestions?

Yeah stay away from digital.

The most accurate pair of thermometer/hygrometer is the reptile set at Petco. The hygro calibrates to 76% which is just about as perfect as you can get.

i use a flukers digital .temp/hygro it works great and very acurate runs around 20 bucks or so .

I find digital thermometer/hygrometers are never quite callibrated correctly. They work fine but are usually 'off' by 0.5 - 1.5C. I have 2 old favourite mercury rod thermometers that are always accurate, one measures centigrade and the other farenheit. I simply do conversion to cross check. Then place these in incubator with probe from digital and check for accuracy. The thermometer bulbs and digital probe are all within an inch of each other but never touching so its air temperature that's being recorded. Once I know how much its out by then I write this figure on the main body of the digital thermometer to remind me.

Always callibrate the thermometers each Spring as learnt the hard way when I relied on a digital read out on my Brinsea which turned out to be 1.5C too high

Dont know what I'd do if I broke my mercury thermometers as can't replace them now in the UK due to safety issues

Was told that mercury thermometers are the most accurate as mercury is one of the most stable elements known. Looking forward to reading others opinions
