What's the problem with high humidity?

Hello everyone!
Today is lockdown for my one quail egg, and the incubator is set to 63% humidity. Though I also have 12 eggs sitting there as well, their hatch dates are abit different.

Is it ok?

I’ve heard doing a staggered hatch with one incubator is very tricky. You may want to search “staggered hatch” on here?

I think the issue with humidity being too high is that the eggs need to “breathe” so the air sack can form correctly? But hopefully someone else will chime in.

Is the one quail egg your “bra egg”? Just curious…

Hi! Thanks so much for your response!!
No, its not my "Bra egg" Bra egg is still in my bra, When I was starting to incubate the bra egg, I had a couple, so I popped some into my homemade one and 1 in my bra.
I'm not too sure about the bra egg, Im hoping for the best!

What else can you do? What are your other options?

During incubation you want the moisture inside the egg to drop to a certain level so the air cell is the right size. There can be problems if the air cell is too large or too small. Nature was nice to us in that there is some leeway in exactly how big it has to be. If we had to be extremely precise few eggs would hatch. An acceptable range is fairly wide.

Obviously I don't know anything about the eggs you are incubating. I don't know how many days they have been incubated or what the humidity was throughout that incubation period. Even if I did know all of that it would not help me much in my decision. In your position I'd raise the humidity for that one egg to help it to hatch and take my chances with the other eggs. The others will probably be OK but you just don't know.

This is why I really do not like staggered hatches, way too stressful on me.

You don’t really have many options unless you have a separate incubator. What are your other eggs and how long have they been in the incubator? What’s your humidity been throughout incubation? I would probably go in to lockdown as late as possible and then lower humidity for the other eggs for a day or two.

If the hatch dates are not that far apart, you'll probably be ok....I wouldn't raise it that high though, 50 to 55% Rh is enough for hatching and wouldn't affect the other eggs that much and easier to get back down to 30 to 45% Rh relatively quick.
If they are Coturnix eggs 30% for incubation is sufficient and 50 to 55% for 'lockdown' is sufficient.

What was the hatch rate on your other 12 ? I had some hatch last week , I had bought coturnix eggs from 2 separate sellers ( arrived 8 days apart) so i just stuck them in the same bater with the others. I'm hoping they are ok 😩
