There are all sorts of posts about chicken Tylan dosages but I did not see anything about duck dosage. Most of the posts about chickens say to use 1/2 cc for three days (not sure if once a day or twice) and either inject in the muscle, put down the throat, or inject just under the skin. I have the Tylan 50 and a runner duck who has developed a wheeze and runny nose so I would really like to start treatment fast without over or under dosing her. Can some duck person please advise me on the proper duck dosage and how often?

Thanks!

Well, no one replied so I went ahead with the 1/2 cc of Tylan for the last three days. I decided to try just under the skin. There does seem to be a positive difference in her breathing.

Has no-one else ever used this product on ducks?

I've never used it on ducks (no need to), but I did use it on some baby geese this spring when they developed swelling along the bill and snotty noses. I doesed them like you would according to chicken sizes. If they were about the weight of a bantam, I gave them 1/2 cc orally, and the bigger ones got 1 cc. None were heavier than an adult LF chicken, but if they had been, I'd have dosed them accordingly. It worked very well for me. Good luck with yours! I'd have responded sooner, but just saw your post.

How did you inject it into the muscle. And is it half a cc once a day for three days or twice a day. I can’t find any clear info
Most of the info on Tylan dosing is incorrect.

Tylan can cause severe injection site reactions, so if I were going to use it again I would give it orally, not by injection.

It must be given by weight several times a day whether giving by injection or orally. Minimum dose is 0.2 ml per pound every 6-8 hours, so a five pound duck would get 1 ml 3-4 times a day.

What is wrong with your duck?

So that I understand for my sick Pekin, do I purchase the injectable Tylan 200 or 50? Then mix that with water and put down the throat? I prefer not to inject them as I understand this opens the door to several other issues. Want to get her treatment fast, but the safest way.

Thanks!
