I don't know much about brooding, but I have lost one chicken because she had expelled an egg inside of her and she got a infection. I was told she had a 50/50. She did die. Now I have a hen who yesterday decided to lay in one of the nests and not move. she is still sitting there, and eggs were under her. I moved her today and there were eggs under her but she did not want to move, and when I moved her lots of white stuff kept coming out of her rear end. What does this mean?? I dont want her to be sick. Do I need to get her to a vet? Please help. thank you

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. If she is broody and isn't getting off the eggs much, it sounds to me like when you moved her you might have squeesed her a little and she went poo. :idunno You should post this in the Emergencies section. You will get more help there. Good luck. :thumbsup

I agree with 4-H chicken mom. Sounds like she may be broody, but post in the Emergency/Disease section just in case.
