Ive had a couple eggs have these dark spots on the yolks, sometimes single and sometimes double spots. We have no roosters and the chicks are penned so they are not fertile.

Thanks, we all eat then and never any adverse effects, just see them once in awhile and wondered what it was. This is our 3rd year with these chicks, planning to expand soon with more and a larger coop/pen as well. Currently been doing 6, maybe have 12 to 20 by next year for eggs and the current 6 will become free range/possibly meat birds? Those are blood spots. It is safe to eat.
