What's this inside my chicken's egg?

Sorry, I can't seem to upload a picture at this time....

I cracked open a chicken egg into my hot steel cut oats and noticed this strange, semi firm, opaque, very light tan mass of about 1/2 tablespoon. I immediately scooped it out and took a picture.

First time I found an inclusion in a chicken egg. Have hens of of various ages. This particular egg's shell is brown with dark brown spots all around. Likely only have one hen laying the spotted eggs. Yolk and white looked normal to me.

Any idea what this could be?

Look through the internal defects portion of this document. It sounds like a meat spot but could be something else.

Egg Quality Handbook

These internal defects aren’t all that unusual. The commercial operations electronically candle their eggs to find things like this so the customers don’t get these surprises. I’ll admit there is a YUK! Factor but the eggs are still safe to eat. Instead of throwing them away, these eggs with internal defects are sold to bakeries or other places that crack the eggs and mix them up.

Thanks so much for the very informative link, Ridgerunner.

I'll feed the egg and oats to the chickens. While I don't mind at all the less than perfect eggs, this particular one was too hard to stomach. I grow lots of fruit and it's kind of the same, not all are perfect looking, but still taste great.
