Whats with my 7m old chicken?

18 weeks and older go on to layer pellets. If laying before 18 weeks, put them on layer. Never found that to be the case though. Any sooner than laying age or 18 weeks can cause liver damage due to added calcium in the layer feed. I agree with lazy gardener. You're on the right track.

Occasionally our hens will do that. I think your chicken is broody. Our Brahma will leave the nest so that other chickens will lay in her box and then sit on them. She'd horde 6-10 other chickens eggs if we let her. She'll lose weight (because she's sitting on eggs and not eating much). When she is out of the nesting box, she'll cluck around like a nut. Our Silkies are very broody too, but not as animated. They just sit.
