Whats wrong with my duck and how do i treat her

I have a 4 month old Pekin duck who has been sick for 4 days now. She cant walk, is gasping for air and today has started having chills. She has gotten a lot weaker too. I am giving her antibiotics and electrolites but they dont seem to help. The vet couldnt figure out what was wrong but he does cats and dogs mostly. Shes not egg bound and has no nasal discharge. Any ideas?

It might have mites. Or cocksityousis or how ever u spell it. Or maybe just hurt its leg because my turkey did the same thing when it got a hurt leg. Just put it in the shade and give it some food and water so it doesnt have to go look for it. Could you take some pics???

My grown Jumbo Pekin hen acted this way once...I gave her some boiled chopped egg sprinkled with niacin (brewers yeast tablet ground up)...within an hour she was her old self again.

Thanks for the info. If she makes it through the night i will try the brewers yeast. It can't hurt. I just doubt she makes it through the night though.

I'm not an experienced duck owner, but when I hear about gasping I think of my poor little Spark. She had aspergillosis, and spent her last day gasping to breath. We weren't able to save her, and didn't find out what the actual disease was until a necropsey after her death that found her lungs were full of fungus. (it was free at the University). I have now learned here on BYC that aspergillosis can be treated with fluconazole and terbinafine together. You might try looking aspergillosis up and see if that sounds like what your duck has.
