My 1 year old goose has started looking a little unkempt. Her feathers are not laying smoothly and I see her sitting on her belly while eating, as though she doesnt have the strength to stand. I put out layer pellets, hay, and vegetable scraps from the garden in the yard for all my animals. Can it be a lack of a certain vitamin or a sickness? I need some clues so I know where to start researching.

Geese require larger amounts of niacin and choline than chickens do. What type of layer pellets are you feeding?
Feeding a game bird formulation or one specific to waterfowl is best.
I feed mine 'Big Four' from Buckeye, but there are many others out there.
If you can't find one, brewer's yeast is one of the highest sources of riboflavin and niacin you can give them.
She may be entering a molt and just needs a little nutritional boost.

My geese are all starting to molt right now. It takes alot out of them and they do look scruffy when this happens.
