So being new to the incubator/hatching thing, the hardest part so far for me is to candle the eggs with confidence. I have not really candled incubating eggs as much as eggs on arrival to see what is going on with the air cells or find cracks, but I think that my candler, while highly rated on Amazon, is not the best.

I bought the Incu-Bright Ultra LED Egg Candler, and I am not that keen on it. Many of the videos I've watched online have seen to have better candlers but you can't really find out what they are using, even when browsing the comments.

So which candler do you have? Would you recommend it? Do any of you have the same model I have and find it to be just fine?

Thanks!

Oye incubator has a decent one until it comes to darker eggs- olive and darker brown.

We have tested several flashlights we've had on hand from 100-500 lumens. And I just bought myself a 2500lm flashlight, not just to candle but for around the house. (That was my justification of a 20$ flashlight haha) We go through so many flashlights it's unbelievable honestly. It's actually really nice.

I did see on Amazon they had egg candling flashlights that were only 600 lumens, so idunno?

I only have pics of the new flashlight and olive eggs on my phone but I'm sure somewhere in my posts are pics of eggs on my incubator lol

Doesn't anyone use the flashlight on their phone? I don't hatch, but I do sell eggs. For a while an elderly lady from church was giving me several dozen of her eggs to sell and I learned I'd better candle every single one! My phone's camera worked very well on white, brown and blue eggs equally, just not very dark chocolate eggs. I offered a replacement egg on any "bad" eggs, but never had any complaints.

I don't think to use my phone bc I'm always trying to take pictures of them lol
