Whattya think?

Really nice job.My husband is building me a new coop and run this spring,I really like your run,the lumber on the bottom is it preasure treated? What keeps predators from digging under it?

Great job, nice and roomy.

One question, I can't tell from the picture but to the roosts extend higher then the nest boxes? If not, you may have issues down the road with the hens roosting in the nest boxes and pooing on ever thing and then you have dirty eggs.

Other then that I think you will have very happy and healthy girls.

Yes, that is pressure treated and we dug out about 16-18 inches and placed 2x4 wire fencing then backfilled with dirt. so far only one dog has attempted to dig under and he now sleeps with the fishes...... and to the second question, yes the roost does go higher than the nesting boxes. thanks for the great comments.

Wow! I love that spacious run! Super-nice!

I agree that you might have chickens perching on top of your nestboxes and poo-ing, so definitely make an even higher rung on your roosts. Chickens love to roost in the highest place they can get to.

Something else you could do is add a slanted board above the nestboxes (45 degree angle at least) so that they would slide right off if they tried to perch up there.

Also, can't tell from the pics, but do you have some bedding in the nestboxes? Might be a good idea to add some if you don't so that they have a soft place to "nest."

Great recycling with those plastic buckets!!

yes we have seen some poo in the nesting boxes but we are hoping as they get bigger they will go to the higher roosts, as for the nesting material, we have not added any yet because the chicks are not due to lay for another 2 months.
