Hi guys,
I have a huge 50lb bag of wheat bran. I bought it for the meal worms and that was the smallest the feed store had, so now I have a tun left over. Can I give this to my chicks? On the side or mixed with their food? Or maybe I should mix it with their cracked corn. I toss a couple handfuls of that on the ground a few times a week. I know they do get some wheat bran on the ground when we give them the worms it kind of goes all over.
Thanks

Thanks, I'll save it for just the worms

Here is a web site that gives nutritional values of wheat bran.

I think it has about 9% protein but it has many vitamins and minerals in it. As allways feed in moderation. I feed it some times. 2 scoops for every fill up of the feeder. My feeder holds about 20 lbs. I get huge eggs when I do this.

When I feed it to my hens I just put a scoop or two in a 5 Gallon bucket and add a little water to it ( just to make it moist ) and then I give it to them in the run/yard...

I make a mush out of wheat bran with rolled oats, flax meal, a bit of starter (organic) and some vitamins. It is like a soft dough and the chicks adore it.
I try to feed all natural and this is good for them a few times a week. I also put red pepper flakes in it once a month as a natural dewormer.
My grown chickens will eat this as well and for my Silkies I add wheat germ oil since they need more Vit. E and less corn in their diet.
