Wheat Sprouts Benifits

$4.50 for a 50 lb bag is amazing! I am paying $13.99 for the same bag in Connecticut.

I am also making some sprouts for my girls. They should be ready in 2 - 3 days. I hope they will love them since wheat sprouts are really good.

So you can do corn sprouts? This is good news, what with us being cash crop farmers!

What about soy bean sprouts? I know to keep them away from most beans but have been told cooked soy beans are OK, so what about their sprouts?

You can sprout almost any type of seed. Some are harder and to grow than others. Here is a web site I found that highlights the main ones.

HI ALL, well golly were did you find 50 lbs of wheat for $ 4.50 i pay $13.50 for a 45 pound bag of wheat or barley the kind used to grow into fodder , but i grow it into sprouts , i also grow barley sprouts along with the wheat i usually buy 4 bags every 2 months & both cost the same here , plus the sprouts are more nutritious since they are protein is what i read about them , so i feed sprouts to my flock of 70 it much easier to feed as sprouts , i make buckets full of sprouts & just toss big hands full of sprouts out to my flock every day plus its so much better then letting it grow into grass for my hens , plus feeding the sprouts saves me the worry of the barley or wheat grass growing to long at some point & could harm my hens ,plus the barley or wheat grass is never as nutritious as the sprouts,so just before i feed it every day as a treat & a healthy meal to my flock & they go crazy over IT .! let me tell ya ,so i use it as their last meal of the day before bed time around 4 pm, but just before feeding i rinse the heck out of it by tossing it into a bucket of water and swishing it around well & dumping that water & refilling 2 to 3 times until its crystal clear , since rinsing it daily is not good enough it needs to be cleaned very well just before feeding in a deep water bath to wash off the slim that can remain on the bottom of the growing bin , which i feel is the beginnings of mold so i soak the dry seed for a day rinse it good & set it in a growing bin that drains well, then cover it & keep rinsing it a few times a day ,so every 3 days i have several buckets of fresh sprouts by letting nature take its course..HA..! its just that easy & such a wonderful feed for my hens and we do get a lot of great tasting beautiful LARGE EGGS...!!!!! pictured here is about 70 dozen of those beautiful eggs and the best part is, i know my hens are good and healthy & well supported by eating the best live food for them , so it may take me some time and labor every day ,but i totally enjoy seeing my girls happy & enjoying their healthy fresh food & hey we eat these eggs to...HA so its all well worth it..!! & that little bit of extra effort pays off

It's pricey, but I only sprout organic wheat berries. I only have four hens, though. I give them a handful in the morning and they love them. I sprout them just to the point where they taste intensely sweet, not until they get fibrous and grassy. The enzymes are very high at that point and the starches have turned to a nutritious sugar. My Chooks do not free range, so I try to give them "live" food every day, either BSF larvae that I grow, or sprouts.
