I recently was sprouting wheat and mung bean. I thought these would be good for the chickens if fed moderately. The wheat is about 2 inches long so I cut it so it wouldn’t get their crop messed up. The mung bean has small sprouts I just fed it to them in their treat dish.

Do you all think this is ok?

I haven't started sprouting yet, but have been reading about fodder lately. It sounds just fine. What set up are you using?

I sprout wheat, and give it to them daily in moderate amounts. Sometimes, I give it to them just barely sprouted. Other times, I give it up to about 2 inches long. I've never cut it, although they prefer the shorter lengths. I've never had any problem with impacted crops and the chickens really enjoy it.

When I've sprouted barley, I've given them the entire thing, torn up into small chunks.

They liked the roots as much as the greens. It was fun to watch them grab a bit and run off, like they intercepted the pass and are taking it to the house for the touchdown.

I've sprouted most seeds, grains and legumes. The things that did best for me as fodder for the chickens were barley and sunflower seeds. They require a soak much shorter than most people would think.
Soaking too long actually slows the process and some seeds never sprout. When buying the grain, make sure it is intended for feed rather than seed. If it is sold for planting, it normally is treated with fungicides and insecticides. Much of that is removed with frequent rinsing but some residue still remains.
