Okay so I hatched these lovely expensive blue eggs and only 2 out of 15 developed and well as luck would have it .... I believe them both to be BOYS .... I have never had Wheaton / Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas before so I was trying to live in denial but given the feather color and well how tall they stand ummmm that could only mean 1 thing right??? BOYS???

Please tell me I'm wrong??? I'll pay you

I do see a lot of dark-looking feathers coming in on the one in the first & last picture. If those are the same chick, I'd say it's a male. It's hard to tell from the middle pictures because of the red light-bulb. Since male wheaten-patterned birds get dark breast feathers, that will be a good indicator for you. Females will have creamy-colored breast feathers.

Edited to add: Can you try to get a picture of each with its wings fanned open so we can see those feathers? That's very helpful in sexing.

Okay I took a few new pictures this morning and hopefully they will help.....

Wheaton #1

His??? Wing ......

Wheaton #2

2 shot .... sorry its a little dark ...

I can see now that one has a much whiter chest then the other one ..... The wings look the same to me but as I said I know NOTHING about wheatons...

Thanks for any help!!!

Looks like two pullets. Our cockerels have more black, particularly in the chest regions. These birds are older then yours, but here are some comparison pics.

Are they getting any breast feathers yet? I hatched wheatens last year, and the males got the dark feathers (just in front of their shoulders) pretty early.
Till then there were a couple that I was sure were boys that turned out to be girls.... Good luck!

(Where are you? I'm hatching some wheatens this week and may want to place a few.... John Blehm lines.

(I'm in NH)

Okay I guess I have to sit and wait..... So I should be able to tell in a couple more weeks?

I have new pictures... not very good but hopefully enough to ID them. I also have 2 other Wheatons 1 week younger they are light ... one very blonde and the other has more noticeable golden on the neck back feather area... I didn't get good pixs of them but there is one group shot ...... The Blue wheatons are 9 weeks the wheatons are 8 weeks .....

This is the back of the darker more golden wheaton..... the other one is really light but I don't have a good picture of her??? (I'm guessing??? )

One with more Golden ........

Only terrible shot I have of really light Wheaton......

So are we all thinking Boys on these 2 Blue wheatons???? Cuz they look the same to me ... and those combs are red!!!! And what about the other 2??? Girls??? Girl Boy??? I know a real picture of the blonde one would help!!!

Thanks for your help!!!

I have a Blue Wheaten roo and 2 BW hens...

The blondes are pullets.

The other 2 look like they're developing a different colored hackle, so I'm going with roos - although, the combs look small, to me. My roo was slightly older when I brought him home, so I missed this stage of his development.
