So, I who never built a thing in my life built a tractor. DH thought it looked decent. Well I tried to move it tonight with the rider mower and the wheels just broke. I had training wheels for a bike. NOT!

So anyone out there in chickenland ever build one? What did you use for tires?

Thanks,

Mary

We used lawnmower wheels on the A-frame and scavenged some wheels off of an old tiller for the other one. The tiller weighed pretty close to what this coop weighs! Maybe more!

Newbie with a HEAVY A-frame tractor. I can't weld so some of the options I have seen won't work. Please continue to offer suggestions and pictures as I can not visualize some of the ideas. Thank you for a great site!

i used some rubber tires from tsc they were about $7 a piece and are plenty for my over built tractor they look similar to the wheels you would find on a wagon you tow behind a lawn tractor, they have a 5/8" axle. wheel barrow tires would also work well. i used some 5/8" threaded stock to hold them on i drilled my wood and then cut the threaded stock to my measured length then doublenutted it to the wood, i then drilled small holes in the threaded stock and got 2 hitch pins and washers to hold the wheels on plus w/ the hitch pins it makes the wheels quick release so you can remove them to level off the tractor after moving it. goodluck ,jim
