Hi everyone, my old girl Tweedle seems to have developed a respiratory issue. She's wheezy and holding her mouth open to breathe. She's also sneezing a bit and has clear liquid coming from her beak. When she drinks water, she makes a weird hiccuping/cough/sneezing noise. I initially thought gapeworm but now I'm not so sure. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to treat? I tried to attach a video but the forum won't let me for some reason.

For video, upload to Youtube and provide a link or your can upload to the BYC Gallery, just let us know where to find it.

How old is she?

When was her last egg?

Have you added new birds in the last 30 days?

If she's old, I check her over for lice/mites, see that her crop is emptying. Feel the abdomen below the vent between her legs for any signs of bloat or fluid (Ascites).

A crop not emptying well and/or fluid in the abdomen, reproductive problems, etc. can cause a hen to gurgle, have difficulty breathing, etc.

If the crop is not emptying, begin addressing that symptom, but likely there's something else at play. Hopefully we can tell a bit more from the video and/or photos of her and her poop.
