I feed my chickens a little scrap of treat just about every day- a little bit of cheese, a leftover pear core, that kind of thing. I have one chicken that gets really really excited and makes this little wheezy snorty sound when she is grabbing and eating a treat. It is extremely funny- like she is hyperventilating with excitement, sort of a like a little kid that cannot contain herself.
Does anyone else's chickens do that? It is a Barred Rock, and I think she is one of the lowest on the pecking order. The other BR is a lot bigger and more dominant, and does not wheeze. None of the other chickens seem to wheeze with excitement. And I've never noticed her doing it normally- she is a healthy, active hen.
