We gave a teacher friend six of our eggs, each of them very different so six different mamas. The dads are an ayam cemani from a local breeder on Craigs list who had too many and the other dad is a cream leg bar from TS (supposed to be a girl...go figure).
The six that hatched are all very different babies! Half are boys, half are girls.
Two of the boys are frizzles (I assume, by their curled feathers). Yep, they're boys, they crow. One of those boys is...an odd one.
Maybe it's hormones? He's been crowing for at least a couple of weeks. A couple of days ago, he started going after our duck hens--the drake is confused and doesn't know what to do. Blanket also went after my husband the other day and then today again, running up to attack but stopping short because he gets picked up when he tries. He also has a crazy-eyed look, like he's trying to bore his way into my brain when he stares, willing me to let him take over the flock. Such a weirdo.
Are we just dealing with hormones? Or did something funky come with the frizzle gene mix?
