I have a 14wo Black Copper Marans. She's supposed to be a hen. At least I paid for a female chick. But she's pretty gorgeous. In my opinions, of course.

She has the requisite copper hackles but she's also got amber colored feathers in her saddle as well. She doesn't have a highly developed tall and she doesn't make a lot of noise. Nothing that I'd describe as "crowing". She also had a well-developed and comb that was pretty red by the time she was just 8 or 9 weeks old. None of my other 14wo girls have anything approaching her comb. The Orpingtons are only beginning to have any detectible combs at all.

I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

I was never going to subject my neighbors to a rooster because we live on half-acre lots. But this bird is going to be too pretty to let go. What shall I do?????

I'm not much of a photographer and when it's a moving target... Well, this is the best I could get.
