My hens are now 4 1/2 months old. When should they start laying eggs? They are free range during the day and I have watched them to make sure they are not nesting somewhere else. I'm getting anxious. And tired of my eggs and chicken feed.

Help

Mine are 5 months and noting yet =C I had to go buy a hen that lays to put off some of my anticipation!

Watch for them starting to squat...mine always laid about a week after that. Keep trying to reach down to pet them and when they allow you to pet them and their wings come up and out a bit they are ready to start laying soon afterward

Mine laid at all different ages but the earliest one laid at 16 weeks and she was a red sex link. Most others lay after that even. Hope it happens soon for you!

Are their comb and wattles red yet and are they starting to squat? Good signs that they will be laying soon. Most of my birds started laying from 20 to 24 weeks.

My hens are 41/2 months now and one of them layed yesterday it was smaller then my mama's but it was exciting. Now i have 5 laying a day 3 more to go and I will have 8 laying a day. Exciting...
