my chickens just started laying this week.
i've heard there not good at first. how long till the good to incubate????

Usually, when they reach full size, since most pullet eggs start out smaller than the size the breed usually lays. Wait a couple of months. Also, check a sample of eggs before you set them, look for the "bulls-eye" to ensure they are fertile eggs.

Agreed you should wait about 3 months after they start laying before trying to incubate and hatch the eggs. The hens system has to get into good working order to ensure the best quality chick.

thanks for info

I agree with the other posts.

It may be a good idea to wait to Spring to incubate, 'cos chicks have a hard time with the temperatures in winter (or you will have to provide heating throughout the coldest months)
